Remote tachograph download with FMC650
Every day, millions of trucks travel the motorways and roads of our planet, delivering goods in all directions. The logistics industry is heavily regulated in most parts of the world, especially in Europe, where the digital tachograph is mandatory. This makes it the ideal environment for a solution for the remote download and monitoring of tachograph data.

The challenge
Violations of driving and rest times are a common problem in the logistics industry. Companies are often fined hundreds or even thousands of euros for them. In addition, the European market is regulated by certain authorities that require digital tachograph data to be submitted every month and in the correct form. Companies can download the data by physically going to the vehicles and connecting directly to the tachographs.
With just a few trucks this may be easy, but with hundreds of vehicles it becomes a serious problem. First, it is time-consuming. Second, the administrative process is complicated. Third, it is not always possible: for example, your office is in Austria and your truck is operating in Spain for three months. In this case, you cannot easily access the files. There is a solution for this.
The solution
The complete solution saves you the problems and effort involved in managing digital tachograph files. It consists of a GPS tracker from Teltonika and software for archiving the tachograph files.
How it works: The first component is a vehicle GPS tracker from the Teltonika PROFESSIONAL category – FMC650 or FMM650. Each device can receive driver card data (in .DDD or .TGD, .V1B, .C1B formats, depending on the region), live tachograph data and extended tachograph/FMS data (TachoCAN) – all via the same CAN line, which simplifies installation. The devices can also read live data from digital tachographs via the K-Line connection.
The second component is DiTeva, our web-based solution for archiving and analysing tachograph data. The files transferred via remote download are archived in DiTeva in a legally compliant manner and prepared for analysis; the integrated scheduler reminds you to download the driver card and vehicle unit memory.
The combination of hardware and software enables you to do two things. First, you automate the download of the required files from the digital tachographs and can submit them to the authorities on time. Second, you can monitor drivers' activities at any time using the live tachograph data in the way4net Portal and receive notifications when their behaviour is not acceptable – for example, when they spend too many hours behind the wheel. In addition, the GPS trackers of the Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series give you all other information from the trucks.
For smooth and easy installation, the FMC650 and FMM650 are available together with suitable accessories: special tachograph or FMS cables. With the optional tacho front panel cable, you can also read data from minibuses with a 12 V on-board electrical system. Activate the front panel interface on the tachograph, connect the cable – done.
